Upstream from the Port Royal Sound and Colleton River is an unspoiled 3,000 acre private island not much different than it was in the early 1800's. The historic Tabby Ruins adjacent to the golf course, is a reminder of the beautiful Edwards' family mansion and working plantation. This award winning South Carolina coastal community has been carefully preserved in one of America's Happiest Seaside Towns, named by Coastal Living Magazine. Spring Island has desingated 1,200 acres as the Colleton Nature Preserve and Chechesee Nature Preserve. Spring Island has received many awards for land stewardship which include Winner of the Urban Land Institute's Award for Excellence.

Spring Island Receives National Coverage
Front page of the Wall Street Journal's Mansion section features communities committed to Conservancy.

We are thrilled about the coverage we received in Friday's National Wall Street Journal edition, especially since the message and content was so relevant to our core philosophy. What a great way to share Spring Island's passionate protection of our natural environment!
Some communities build activities and programming around their nature preserves. On Spring Island in South Carolina, you can take the community’s 12-week “master naturalist” course, and study the flora and fauna in the preserve. Go on kayaking trips and participate in the “Owl Prowl,” where neighbors listen for owls at night.

Spring Island also recently received national coverage in Links Magazine's online Hot Links edition about another one of our passions at Spring Island - the Arts Program! This message was received by over 500,000 publication subscribers.
